About the Project

Concordia
Atlas

A digital preservation initiative documenting every gravestone in Concordia Cemetery, El Paso, Texas — one of the most historically significant burial grounds in the American Southwest.

Our Mission

Concordia Cemetery, established in the 1880s, contains the remains of thousands of individuals who shaped the Paso del Norte region — outlaws, civic leaders, soldiers, immigrants, and families from every walk of life.

The Concordia Atlas project is a systematic effort to document every marker, transcribe every inscription, and build a publicly accessible research archive. We combine field surveying, GPS precision, AI-assisted OCR, and 3D photogrammetry to create the most complete digital record of this historic cemetery.

Field Documentation

Trained volunteers photograph and measure every marker using mobile survey tools.

Digital Archive

All records are stored in a permanent, searchable database with full version history.

AI-Assisted Research

Gemini Vision AI transcribes inscriptions and assists with historical record matching.
